a community-rooted in exploration
Welcome to Pere Marquette Wildflowers, a community-driven initiative that took root in 2012. Volunteers, including members from local Garden Clubs, Wild Ones, Master Gardeners, and nature enthusiasts, collaborated to identify wildflowers along the Pere Marquette Rail Trail.
The website and blog, initially created by non-botanists, found its caretaker in Gina Pederson of the Great Lakes Gardeners. In late 2023, Gina handed over ownership to the Little Forks Conservancy. The Conservancy has since relocated the content and continue to maintain the website, preserving the essence of Pere Marquette Wildflowers for all to explore.

The Little Forks Conservancy permanently protects and improves natural environments in mid-Michigan by leading and inspiring actions that conserve vital habitats and waterways for the benefit of our entire community.
Since 1996, they’ve protected over 4,023 acres of land, 23 miles of shoreline, and 10 miles of trails. They strive to have places in nature that inspire connections and communities, serve as a healing and educational space, and allow all ages and abilities access to nature - now and for future generations to come. |
